Red Wine Spritzer Recipe

Our red wine spritzer recipe is proof that you don’t need many ingredients to make a delicious drink. Made up of only three components, this spritzer variation is just what you need!

What Is a Spritzer?

Spritzers are pretty famous around the world, so you might have heard the name before. The word ‘Spritzer’ is derived from the German verb ‘spritzen’, which literally means to squirt.

Spritzers are traditionally made of only three components: wine, carbonated water, and ice. This composition makes it a great refreshment on a warm summer day.

When to Serve a Red Wine Spritzer

Like we mentioned above, a spritzer is best served during summer. The same goes for this red wine spritzer.

Picture this: the sun’s out, and it’s warm outside. You’re in the mood for a drink, but inside you feel like it’s too early to drink alcohol. That’s where our red wine spritzer comes in!

You can simply adjust the wine-soda ratio to lower the alcohol contents, making the drink suitable for brunch or lunch.

Tips For a Delicious Red Wine Spritzer

You don’t have to be a master mixologist to make this drink. In fact, it’s straightforward, and it’s done in a jiffy. However, here are a few tips to enhance your red wine spritzer a bit.

Make sure all ingredients are chilled, including the red wine. Chilling a red wine down to 55-60°F (13-15°C) will focus its flavors, and the alcohol will not be as evident.

Since this recipe is done in minutes, this drink makes a good substitute for sangria. When adding fresh fruit, it has a similar taste but is much easier to make.

How to Make a Red Wine Spritzer

The ‘how-to’ section is usually a vital part of a recipe, but not this time. There really isn’t much to explain, but here goes anyway.

Wash the strawberries, remove the stems, and cut the strawberries in half.

Fill a glass of your choice with ice, and add the strawberries. Next, pour over the wine and soda water. If you’d like to dress up your drink, you could garnish your glass with another strawberry.

Cheers!
