Strawberry Aperol Spritz

This strawberry Aperol spritz has everything we picture when we think of summer drinks. It is pleasantly bittersweet, refreshing, and its bright orange color is a feast for the eyes.

What is Aperol?

Aperol is a classic Italian aperitivo, made of oranges, herbs, and roots with a touch of vanilla. Its taste is best described as bittersweet, which makes this drink quite unique.

Another factor that makes Aperol stand out is its bright orange hue. This makes the drink easily recognizable and – when served in the right glass – it’ll give you summer vibes!

With an ABV of 11%, Aperol is not a very strong drink, making it perfect for mixing.

Tips for Making the Best Strawberry Aperol Spritz

Even though this is an easy recipe, you can up your mixing game with the tips we’ve listed for you below.

  • Make sure the prosecco and club soda are chilled before making this drink.
  • If you do not have prosecco, you can also use dry white sparkling wine.
  • For the ultimate sweetness, choose strawberries that are ripe and juicy.
  • Wash the strawberries first before hulling them. This prevents them from absorbing the water.

  • 1 teaspoon granulated sugar

How to Make a Strawberry Aperol Spritz

This Strawberry Aperol spritz is among our best Aperol recipes, and here’s how to make it yourself.

Pick the fresh basil leaves and place them in a shaker. Gently mash the basil 3 to 4 times to release the juices and enhance the basil taste in your drink. Make sure not to mash them into a pulp.

Add the strawberries on top, and cover with the sugar. If you’re using big strawberries, cut them in half before adding them; this makes the muddling easier.

Now muddle the strawberries until the strawberries have turned into pulp.

Fill a glass with ice and add the strawberry basil mixture. Here come the liquids: first add the Aperol, then top with the prosecco and soda water.

Last but not least, decorate your glass with a strawberry and an orange slice. Cheers, or as the Italians say Salute!
